#MyLitterGenie Review

I received the Litter Genie product complementary from +Crowdtap  to try out and give my honest opinion.  I was very leery at first because I felt I wasn't sure how this product would make my life easier.  I already clean out the litter box every day or two to keep it nice and fresh for my little Puddin'.  Who wouldn't want to keep it clean for such a cute cat?

The first thing I noticed was the hard plastic design.  I wondered how that would keep the smell inside the box.  I was surprised.  I have cleaned the items from the box daily for the last week and deposited into the litter genie --and NO smell!  Set up is simple-- the system comes with a "refill cartridge" that slides into the litter genie just under the rim.  You pull out how much plastic bag you need.  The directions recommended 12 inches I pulled out slightly more as 12 did not seem quite enough once I tied a knot in the bottom of "the bag".  This is then put inside the genie with the lid sealing the bag in place.  What is really cool is the slide functionality.  As you can see in my pictures below-- you deposit the clumps into the genie (sorry for the extreme visual, but its important to see the process) and then pull the grey slide, which they call a handle out.  When you pull and release the handle, the clumps fall into the lower portion where you have knotted the bag.  The reason I initially increased the amount of bag I pulled out was because the first time I attempted- the poo did not drop, but I felt I hadn't pulled the bag out far enough.  That only happened that first time.  Every day since, it has worked like a charm.  This is great for saving bags.  I generally was cleaning out the box into grocery plastic bags daily and dumping in the trash.  This allows you to keep the box clean easily daily and then empty the bag at the end of 1-2 weeks depending on the number of cats you have.  This design comes with a built in child proof cutter to cut the bag, tie it and toss it in the trash.  Then you just pull out more plastic, tie the bottom and start fresh.
I didn't see any downfall to this product, except that it is a little big- 8"X8"X16" so depending on the space you use for your litter box- it could be a tight squeeze to have them right next to each other which I found most convenient.  The price of the refill cartridges is affordable at about $6 and the price of the Genie system itself was only about $14 so I thought this was very affordable. Additionally I really liked that it has a holder for the scooper right on the side of the litter genie itself!  I would definitely recommend it!
